About Me
My name is Bryan J Henry and I am currently Professor of Political Science and Civic Engagement Coordinator at Lone Star College-University Park where I teach Federal Government and Texas Government.
I studied English, History, and Philosophy at Texas A&M University. The highlights of my time at Texas A&M were volunteering for Barack Obama's 2008 presidential campaign and meeting my future wife in the English Department.
In 2010, I began my teaching career as an English teacher at Kingwood High School in Humble ISD in northeast Houston. I then taught AP World History, AP European History, and AP U.S. Government. While teaching at Kingwood High School, I completed a M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction at Texas A&M University and a M.A. in Political Science at The University of Houston where I focused on political theory and civic education.
As a high school teacher, I sponsored student trips to Washington D.C. to participate in the Close Up civic education program, worked as a College Board AP Exam grader for European History in Kansas City, Missouri, and served as a representative on the executive board of the Texas Council for the Social Studies.
In 2019, I was recognized as Texas High School Social Studies Teacher of the Year by TCSS and accepted a faculty position at Lone Star College-University Park.
